1st. Composite Radio Co. FMF Pac

Marine Brotherhood spans decades.
In January 1962 1st. Composite Radio Co. FMF Pac., headquartered at MCAS
Kaneohe HI., began the deployment of detachments to the Republic of
Vietnam. Know as Sub Unit 1 it is generally believed that these were the
first Marine Boots on the ground in support of the VN government against
insurgence.
Forty three years later six of these troops joined for a reunion in
Memphis Tn. Since then the group has grown to over 40 members with an
outstanding web site.

Highlights of the 2010 reunion included the following: The presentation,
by First Rad. Bn., of a US Flag flown over USMC Base Al Asad Air Base
Iraq July 25, 2009.
The presenting to each member of the group a "challenge coin" from the
Commanding officer and SgtMaj. of the 2nd Radio Bn. Additionally an
invitation was proffered for the upcoming change of command of 2nd.
Radio Bn.
2nd. Radio Bn. submitted a letter of gratitude for the first step taken
by members of the group which has led to a much broader mission.
2nd Radio Bn. provided the services of an excellent Marine officer to
update, as much as possible, the group on current equipment, mission and
deployments.
The veteran services officer for Henderson county NC, a retired Marine
MSgt. presented valuable info to the group, especially the wives.
Sgt Grit provided a "care package" of many t-shirts, caps and decals.
This reaching back to troops from years ago touched us all deeply.
